Simba ®

Integrated Reservoir Modeling and Simulation Engine

Simba is a completely web-based platform for reservoir modeling and simulation. In addition to its built-in simulator, it also supports firing runs and retrieving results from main-stream simulators once the are deployed on the same cloud. Simba’ own simulator features unique capability of fully unstructured gridding, and thus enables explicit modeling of multi-scale fractures, complex faults and karsts.

As the pioneer in cloud-native reservoir simulation, Simba aims to bring a super light and convenient  experience on the use end, and leave the massive data storage and CPU/GPU intensive computing all on cloud.

Compatibility and Robustness

  • Fully compatible with commercial simulators covering 450+ industry standard keywords
  • Geomodeling and simulation algorithms benchmarked with 200+ field-scale examples
  • Become default simulator within CNOOC since 2024

Discrete Modeling and Simulation

  • Full spectrum of approaches from DPDK to EDFM and DFM to model fractures with different level and details
  • Unique unstructured gridding technology for tetrahedral, prism, and PEBI mech generation
  • Adaptive mech refinement (AMR) technology to balance modeling accuracy and efficiency

Cloud Computing

  • Batch simulation cases generation varying geomodel parameters and or well controls super easily
  • Large number of simulation runs assigned on multiple nodes to maximize computing resources available
  • Parallel computing with OpenMP, MPI, OMP + MPI combined, and GPU acceleration

Sharing & Collaboration

  • Project worksapce sharing with colleagues simply through a weblink for easy access
  • Collaboration among peers with diversified devices including PCs,  Macs,  Pads,  and mobile phones
  • One-click, state-of-the-art visualization of reservoir dynamics,  portions of interest,  and diagnostic plots
